Bowen Core Values Are Not Tucked Away In A Document On A Dusty Shelf. We Live Them Daily.

  • We take safety incredibly seriously at Bowen. New craft on our jobsites consistently say that this is one of the first things they notice when they arrive. Our days start with safety huddles and end with shift meetings which review how we performed that day. Our EMR rating is always below industry average and has been that way for years.

This core value comes from a deep understanding that Bowen exists for our people. We take a genuine concern for each other’s lives, beginning with physical safety and going well beyond. Construction projects can and should be completed safely. When we truly care about the coworker next to us, we create a culture and environment where everyone goes home safe. Genuine concern drives zero injury at Bowen.

  • Simply put, the work we do is far too important to gloss over problems which may arise. Our projects enable millions of Americans to turn on the lights, flush their toilets, and turn on the faucet to get clean drinking water. If the pipe, concrete, or boiler we place is meant to last for 50 years (which is the expectation in some instances), then it needs to be perfect.

55 years in business is long enough to know that problems will arise. Since the beginning Bowen has taught, and will continue to teach every new employee that we are the contractor who never walks away from the problem. We don’t do it, period.

  • We want to be known as the contractor that can be relied on to pursue ethical action in all circumstances. Not only do we believe this core value is intrinsically valuable, we also know that repeat partnerships are not possible without it.

As a contractor that has been building for 55 years we have already worked with repeat suppliers, subcontractors, and owners. These relationships are pivotal to excellent projects. We need a complete team where every stakeholder can trust each other. Bowen seeks to be the example and standard for excellence in business practices. This is why owners keep inviting us back for new projects.

  • At Bowen we believe that if we don’t honor the right things, then the wrong things will slowly become part of our culture. If we do not celebrate safety, or problem solving, or taking the time to complete a project correctly, then our people will not understand those as values at Bowen.

As such, it is essential to our culture to pursue enthusiastic teamwork and celebration. We will celebrate safety. We will celebrate quality. We will celebrate integrity in our business practices and all of our core values. We will do our projects as a team, whether it means taking responsibility for mistakes or receiving compliments for success.

  • There is always room to improve our practices, and that will never change. One common phrase at Bowen is “challenge the process”, and we don’t stop doing this even when things are going right.

If there is a better way, we will find it. If there is a better process, we will implement it. No matter the department, everyone at Bowen is committed to continuous improvement.

  • At Bowen we are committed to sharing the opportunity that this company provides. Whether that is the opportunity to learn, grow, advance, make money, or numerous opportunities that we can’t anticipate, they are there to be shared.

Just as we share our mistakes and celebrations as a team, we also share opportunity as a team.

  • We believe in humility at Bowen. The humility to value your service to the customer. This means valuing service enough to take responsibility for your own safety and that of the others around you. This means valuing service enough to not walk away from the challenges on projects. This means pursuing the highest degree of ethical practice with customers.

Our core values are all in place to serve the customer, as a team.
