- Why I Chose Bowen: Being from a small town and small school, I wanted a small company atmosphere. I grew very close to the people here and consider them part of my family.
- What I have learned at Bowen: Superstars fail without teamwork, leadership, shared goals and hard work. There’s no free lunch and we are all in this together (don’t go down alone). No one knows it all. We accomplish our goals when we communicate, collaborate and encourage each other.
- Education: BS Civil Engineering, Rose Polytechnic Institute (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology)
- Background/Experience: I began my construction career in the 9th grade as a laborer on a highway crew. I wrote my high school freshman paper on “Why I wanted to be a Civil Engineer” (I still have it!). After high school, I worked my way through college running heavy equipment (scrapers, dozers, rollers) on Interstate projects and after college, started work as a field Superintendent. I worked as a Superintendent for about 5 years before coming into the office kicking and screaming. I started at Bowen at age 33 as a Superintendent, then worked as Engineer, Project Manager, Chief Estimator, Safety Director, COO, President and now Executive Vice President.
- Key Projects/Clients: I helped develop our early relationships with Steve Himmel at Consumers Water (now Aqua); this became a relationship with Farnsworth. Also worked closely with Indianapolis Water (Bob Miller, now retired), American Water (Steve Schmitt and Alan DeBoy) and DPW with Carlton Ray.
- My Unique Ability: I can wiggle my ears and nose independently and can recite the Greek Alphabet backwards.
- Favorite Quote(s):

- Recommended Book/Movie/Music: Any book written by John Ludlum or Steven King; any movie starring Bruce Willis, Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt or Bridget Fonda; Music from the late 60’s, especially Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix or the Doors.
- When I'm Not At Work I: Fish, boat, read, entertain and help raise 2 grandchildren.
- Favorite Sport: Pro-football
- Favorite College Team: Fighting Illini
- Favorite Professional Sports Team: Colts, closely followed by ‘da Bears’
- Best Golf Score: How do you spell “infinite”? Let’s just say it is 8 times 18.
- Most Memorable Bowen Moment: There are many, but they all come down to watching our people make the “right” decisions: fair, honest, ethical, equitable and made with the idea that we ALL need to win!
