Indiana American Water Three-Plant Project

  • Project Location: Indiana
  • Project Type: Private Water
  • Total Contracts: $32 Million
  • Project Description:

When Indiana American Water called on Bowen in 1996 to build three new water treatment facilities on an extremely aggressive schedule, Bowen delivered.  These facilities, located in Crawfordsville, Franklin and Noblesville, Indiana, were constructed simultaneously in fifteen months, on time and under budget.

Over a decade later in 2009, our ongoing relationship of trust with Indiana American Water gave them the confidence to hire Bowen to build three more municipal water treatment facilities. They were built simultaneously through design-build delivery with design partner HNTB.

The projects allowed Indiana American Water to provide an additional 15 mgd of capacity to its customers.

    Project Scope

    • Plant Buildings and Finishes
    • Raw Water Wells and Pumps
    • Storage Tanks
    • Detention Basins
    • High Service Distribution Pumps
    • Pressure Filters
    • Chemical Feed Equipment
    • Process Piping

The new buildings were built to LEED requirements with the goal of LEED certification. These facilities were some of the first water treatment plants in Indiana to achieve this level of energy and operational efficiency.
